Three Ways To Style A Printed Blouse
At first glance, styling a printed blouse may seem a little intimidating with all those shapes, colours and cuts to coordinate. But it doesn’t have to be difficult. By utilising some wardrobe staples, working with a specific colour palette and embracing the pattern, you’ll find a print is more versatile than you ever thought it could be. Here, we use the gorgeous Sierra Blouse, a slate blue offering with fronds of floral motifs, to show you how one blouse can be transformed into three completely different looks. By following these ideas you’ll soon be pulling off pretty powerful prints, seamlessly.
Look One: Just Add Denim
We all know denim is one of the most versatile items in any women’s wardrobe so there’s no question it can be effortlessly teamed with a printed blouse. The lighter denim of the Luna jean offers a relaxed fit and feel for the day, while the darker shade of the Bianca Jean gives off a slightly more sophisticated vibe. Both offerings will look smart with the Sierra Blouse either tucked in with a belt, or worn loose. When the weather gets a little colder the duchess blue of the Amelia Cardi is a cosy choice for adding some depth with textures and layers. Opt for brown heeled leather boots to finish off the look… but if you’re feeling brave try this season’s trend of snakeskin which will instantly add a stylish twist on a classic outfit.
Look Two: Choose a Colour Palette
When wearing a print with multiple colours in it, focus on one colour to extract from the blouse and pull other garments together around that choice. The most obvious colour to use in the Sierra Blouse is the beguiling slate blue hue which can be teamed perfectly with the blue Elena skirt. However, you don’t always need to play it safe by opting for the main colour. Sometimes you can alter the entire look of the outfit by subtly drawing out a smaller secondary colour within the blouse to work with. We’re loving the deep navy of the small flowers and the soft blush pink of the larger ones within the Sierra Blouse which could both be matched to a skirt you may already own.
Look Three: Turn to Suiting
One of the easiest ways to wear a printed blouse is to find the matching skirt and create your own modern take on the traditional suit. It’s not always possible but fortunately at Loobie’s Story they’ve created the Sierra Skirt – a whimsical pleated version of the Sierra Blouse featuring the same print. Simply tuck the blouse into the skirt, add a pair of heels and you’re good to go. This matching ensemble offers a feminine twist on a classic and will double as your new age power suit. If you feel the cold, add the Kiara Gilet in navy for another layer and a touch of luxe.
